A sump pump ends your basement's dependence on the city sewer

After heavy rain, groundwater builds against your foundation. Older homes drain it into the municipal sewer — which fails exactly when you need it most: during a major storm.

What gets installed in one day of work:

A lined basin at the low point of your basement floor with an automatic pump that pushes groundwater away from your foundation.

Your weeping tiles are redirected into the pit and the old sewer connection is capped — so storm surcharge can never reach your foundation drains again.

6-month completion window

Work must be complete and final approval requested within 6 months of pre-approval. We manage this deadline for you.

One sump pump rebate per property per decade — so the install should be done right, to spec, the first time.

$7,500 application cap

Per-item maximums ($6,000 pump / $1,500 storm valve / $1,000 capping / $500 downspouts) all count toward one $7,500 ceiling per application.

HST-in, invoice-based

The rebate is calculated on your real tax-in invoice — labour, materials and HST all count as eligible costs.

City decides, not us

Sump pump rebate questions, answered straight

Is the rebate really $7,500? I heard the sump pump maximum is $6,000.+

Both numbers are true. The sump pump itself is rebated up to $6,000. But the same application can include a storm backwater valve ($1,500), foundation drain capping (up to $1,000), downspout disconnection (up to $500), and the camera inspection — up to $7,500 combined. Since it's one pre-approval and one install day, we quote the package, not just the pump.

Does the rebate cover labour and HST?+

Yes. Eligible costs include contractor labour, materials AND taxes. The $7,500 cap applies to your real, tax-in invoice total — not just the hardware.

Do I get the rebate as a discount on the invoice?+

No — it's a reimbursement. You pay for the completed work, we submit the final paperwork, and the City mails the rebate cheque directly to you. Your estimate shows the gross price, each rebate, and your net cost before you commit, and financing can bridge the gap until the cheque arrives.

What is pre-approval and why does everyone keep mentioning it?+

Since February 2025 the City must approve your project BEFORE anything is installed — work done first gets nothing. Pre-approval needs an itemized quote, a contractor diagram of the proposed work, and permits. Preparing and filing that package is the core of our service.

How long do I have once I’m pre-approved?+

6 months. The work must be completed and final approval requested within 6 months of pre-approval, or you start over. We schedule your install as part of the pre-approval package so the window is our deadline to manage, not yours.

I already have a sump pump. Can I still get anything?+

Possibly — the 10-year rule applies per rebate, so if your pump was installed without the rebate or more than 10 years ago, you may still qualify. Do you guarantee my rebate gets approved?+
