Halton Pays 100% Up to $6,500 — And You Do Not Need Pre-Approval
The highest ceiling of any programme we work with, and the only one with no approval gate. Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

Halton Region runs one basement flooding subsidy across Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills, and on two counts it is the strongest programme in the area.
The highest cap
For work completed after 15 July 2024, the Region pays 100% of costs incurred for materials and labour to disconnect weeping tile and install a sump pump, up to a maximum of $6,500. Work completed on or before that date falls under the older $5,000 ceiling.
No approval to wait for
This is what genuinely sets Halton apart. Most rebate programmes make you apply, wait for a letter, and only then start work — and anything you did beforehand is disqualified.
Halton does not work that way. Applications must be submitted within one year after the work has been completed. You can have the job done now and claim afterwards. If you had qualifying work done in the last twelve months and never claimed, you may still be able to.
What is covered
- Weeping tile disconnection from the wastewater system
- Sump pump installation
- Plumbing assessment, where one is needed
- CCTV inspections
- Permit costs
Water-powered backup sump pumps are the one device the Region names as not eligible.
Who qualifies
- The home must be inside Halton Region
- Connected to Halton's municipal wastewater sewer — homes on septic systems are not eligible
- The weeping tile connection must be verified, either through the Region's Household Drainage Survey or an assessment by a licensed plumber or drainage contractor
- One subsidy per property
How do I know if my weeping tile is connected?
Most homeowners have no idea, and there is no reason they should. A camera inspection settles it in minutes — and that inspection is itself an eligible cost, so confirming it does not come out of your pocket if the claim goes through.
When the money arrives
A subsidy cheque is mailed four to six weeks from the date Halton receives a completed application. Getting the paperwork right first time is the biggest factor in how fast it lands.
You can model your own job on our Halton rebate page — most homeowners inside the cap pay nothing at all.
